WORKSHOP: MOVING THE BODY-LANDSCAPE

WORKSHOP: MOVING THE BODY-LANDSCAPE

WORKSHOP: MOVING THE BODY-LANDSCAPE
Led by Mati Torres Laborde
Monday 29 April 2024, 10:30am-1pm

Taking inspiration from Nikta Mohammadi’s new film Memory Stone, this workshop will focus on exploring and developing creative movement and choreography led by the body and landscape. Delivered by multidisciplinary dance artist Mati Torres Laborde, this workshop will share insight into the body-landscape moments in the Memory Stone, discussing how the ground, the stones, and the silence were some of the key starting points for the script, the role of the landscape and the collaboration between audio visual and dance.

As part of the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to watch Memory Stone and then create dance sequences informed by your body-landscape and others. Drawing on contemporary dance technique and improvisation tools.

This workshop is open to all abilities; however, it is recommended for those who have a basic understanding of dance techniques. If you are new to dance and movement but would like to try, please let us know in advance.

Please, bring yourself to the workshop, all the dance techniques are welcome as a point of reference. The workshop will provide both structured material and opportunities for group improvisation.
