PSEUDO

By Scarlett-Rose Lovette

Pseudo [ˈsjuːdəʊ] adjective 1. not genuine; spurious or sham:

Step into the world of Pseudo…a multidisciplinary gig-theatre production from poet, theatre-maker, and music maker Scarlett-Rose Lovette, exploring where agency lies in a person living with NEAD {none-epileptic-attack-disorder} and FND {functional-neurological-disorder}, and the marginalisation and imposter syndrome associated with hidden disability today.

In a surge of poetic storytelling, accompanied by an original cyberpunk soundtrack, and AI multi-sensory light and video projections, this witty autobiographical piece, {inspired by Scarlett-Rose’s real seizure diaries}, challenges pseudo truths about dissociative seizures, FND, and self-image.

Scarlett-Rose Lovette (they/she)

Scarlett is a self-affirming “professional amateur”, poet, theatre-maker, musician, (and aspiring short-film maker), who uses their lived experiences, outreach, and research to inform systematic change. Their work is a sublime swirl of spooky and ethereal – divergent, minimal (DIY) yet striking.

Scarlett’s work has taken form in a dynamic mixture of spaces; from gritty basements, old warehouses, and the streets of Manchester, to literary festivals, fancy theatre stages, and even on telly.

They have worked closely with organisations such as Young Identity, Contact, and Factory International, and have a Masters degree in Contemporary Performance practice; graduating from Salford University over lockdown.
