Lowry's 2024 Festive Appeal raises £55,284 to help fund creative programmes in Salford

Lowry's Festive Appeal raises £55,284 to help fund creative programmes in Salford

We are thrilled that this year’s Lowry Festive Appeal has raised £55,284 for its creative learning programmes that make a real difference for children and young people in Salford who are facing challenges.

The appeal was supported by Salford-born comedian, writer, actor, and presenter Jason Manford who  recorded a message that was played across Lowry throughout the fundraising campaign, with donations collected via bucket collections at the end of all performances across the festive season.

Additionally to Lowry's own appeal, Lowry are delighted to share that £7,714 was raised for Hope Mill’s First Curtain after their performances of A Christmas Carol in our Quays Theatre. A fantastic £1863 was also raised for Salford Foodbank.

Emma Rapley, Foodbank Manager at Salford Foodbank said: "We'd like to extend a huge thanks from the team here at Salford Foodbank to Lowry for their recent support. It was wonderful to be one of the local recipients to benefit from the theme of community and giving within the Come From Away production. We received a generous food donation, and an incredible £1,863 from the bucket collection on press night. These donations will go a long way in helping us to keep our warehouse well stocked this winter and ensure we can offer a fully packed food parcel to all those referred to us in crisis across Salford."

William Whelton, CEO Hope Mill Theatre said: "Thank you to Lowry audiences who have helped us bring excitement and joy to children's faces across Greater Manchester as they witnessed their first ever live theatre performance, the awe and inspiration that sparks a lifetime of love for the arts. At Hope Mill Theatre, we believe every child deserves this experience, but many in Greater Manchester face financial barriers that prevent them from attending, but thanks to you for your generosity we have made this possible and hundreds of young people came and experienced ‘A Christmas Carol’ at Lowry this festive season completely for free! Thank you so much for your support."

Jennifer Riding, Director of Learning and Engagement at Lowry said: "We are deeply grateful to our incredible audiences and visitors for your unwavering generosity. Their support means we can deliver Lowry's life-changing creative programmes for young people and families across Salford. Thanks to you, we can provide vital resources—transport, meals, artists, and consistent support—throughout the year. Together, we are creating lasting impact. Thank you for making this possible!"
