Stars attend the red carpet press performance for the National Theatre's acclaimed production of War Horse

A host of familiar faces attended the Press Performance for the National Theatre’s acclaimed production of War Horse yesterday, Sunday 22nd September including novelist Michael Morpurgo, who wrote the much-loved book on which the production is based.

Another guest was Coronation Street star Peter Ash, who recently won a National Television Award for his portrayal of Paul Foreman.

Peter appeared in the first national tour of War Horse, a decade ago, playing ‘Billy’ so returning to watch the show was a special experience for him. Speaking at the interval Peter said: “I was part of the original UK tour 10 years ago and yeah it’s just incredible, this is my first time seeing it from the audience point of view and it’s just so special. It’s really nice to come back and see it again.

“The puppets are incredible, the music is fantastic, so emotional, the visuals, it’s just got everything, it’s incredible.

“it’s still just as amazing as I remember it when I did it –  emotional, inspiring and wonderful.”

Other stars attending the event included Corrie’s Michael LeVell, Lisa George, Cait Fitton, Liam McCheyne, Channique Sterling-Brown, Jane Hazelgrove and Elle Mulvaney, as well as Gaydio’s Jsky.
