With Clem Garritty, Swamp Motel and Terry O’Donovan, Dante or Die 

Join award-winning artists Clem Garritty and Terry O’Donovan as they discuss the ideas and creative processes behind the celebrated short films The Alter by Swamp Motel (Best Experimental Film, Cannes World Film Festival 2022) and Odds On by Dante or Die (Best Interactive Film, International Media Festival of Wales 2022), and their experiences of making interactive, film-based work. 

With roots in immersive and experiential theatre, Clem and Terry will discuss transitioning their work to digital platforms and screens, and the rewards and creative challenges that these online spaces offer in creating new digital performance experiences and connections with audiences.

Clem is co-founder and Creative Director of Swamp Motel. Having previously co-founded multi-award winning and critically acclaimed comedy theatre company Kill the Beast, Clem then teamed up with Ollie Jones to form immersive entertainment company Swamp Motel

Terry O’Donovan

Terry has worked as an actor, director and producer since 2005. He co-founded Dante or Die in 2006. As Co-Artistic Director he has co-created all productions and performed in most, including User Not Found’s acclaimed international tour which included BAM’s Next Wave Festival, Traverse Theatre. In 2021 he won Best Perforance Award at the Off-West End Awards alongside he cast members for his performance in Skin Hunger. Most recently he co-wrote and directed the company’s first interactive film, Odds On. He specialises in creating intimate and immersive performances. 

Elsewhere, he directed original site-specific production, Bread Not Profits which won the Audience Choice Award in the 2020 Irish Theatre Awards. On The Wire, Terry’s original production for Irish company Wildebeest Theatre was nominated for Best Production in The Irish Theatre Awards in 2015. He co-founded TalkShow Theatre, and co-created Ten Out of Ten, Be Here Now and Focus Group which all toured nationally. 

Dante or Die is an award-winning, independent site-specific theatre company that creates new performances in unexpected places. Since 2006, the company have been creating original performances that have taken place in cosy cafés, an artificial ski-slope, high end and some lower-end hotel rooms, anonymous self-storage buildings and sweaty leisure centres…the list goes on. They have performed across the UK and at brilliant international festivals.
