Larry suffers humiliation because of his balloon flight, impacting his mental health. In Act II, he reflects on his life in a song that alludes to feelings of depression and suicidal thoughts. He describes his challenges in the wake of the flight and ultimately takes his own life. Larry’s suicide is not depicted onstage, but is read aloud from a newspaper article.
