Robert Robson

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the death of Robert Robson, founding Artistic Director of the Lowry, whose legacy lives on in all that we do as an organisation.

Robert joined The Lowry as Theatres Director in 1998, two years before we opened our doors, becoming Artistic Director in 2003 and performing the role with brilliance and passion until his death age 58 in 2013.

He was a hugely respected figure in the arts industry both regionally and nationally and provided inspirational artistic leadership to The Lowry, for which we will always be grateful.

Julia Fawcett O.B.E. Chief Executive of The Lowry said: “Robert is still greatly missed by all who knew and worked with him, and we could not let today pass without paying tribute to him and fondly remembering all he did for the arts in Salford and Greater Manchester, and beyond.”
