Production-shot-2

New comedy musical about anxiety disorders takes shape at The Lowry.

House of Blakewell premiere ‘Everything is Absolutely Fine,’ a new comedy musical about anxiety disorders at The Lowry Thu 27 & Fri 28 June.

‘Everything is Absolutely Fine’ is a brand new comedy musical about anxiety disorders, caring and trying to keep going. With power ballads, show tunes and body percussion, House of Blakewell explore what it’s like to be human and to struggle.

Formed by Harry Blake and Alice Keedwell, House of Blakewell integrate comedy, cabaret and diverse musical styles aiming to attract new audiences to the genre of musical theatre.

House of Blakewell are currently ‘Developed With Artists’ as part of The Lowry’s Artist Development Programme. Alice Keedwell is an actress, singer and actor musician, and Harry Blake is an award winning composer and sound designer.

The new production will draw on Alice’s experiences of anxiety and working as an Occupational Therapist in social services.

Alice is making a new start. She has moved out of the big city to a small town with a job she loves as an Occupational Therapist. Things are going to be different here. She is going to be a new person, cool, calm and free. The kind of person who goes running every day and can go to a cafe and sit on their own. She is going to make a difference, be independent, meet new people and leave her old friend anxiety far behind her once and for all….BUT….her old friend has other ideas…. How do you make new friends when even choosing what to have for dinner fills you with dread and self-doubt? How do you help when it all gets too much?

Alice Keedwell said; “We want to explore everyday human struggles but also wider issues including mental health and the impact of austerity on those working within the public sector. We want to create a show that brings people together to share in our vulnerabilities, to continue talking openly about mental health issues and to remember the importance of small acts of kindness and sticking together in difficult times.”

In 2019 The Lowry celebrates ten years of its Artist Development Programme supported by Arts Council England, the Eranda Rothschild Foundation and The Garrick Club Charitable Trust. House of Blakewell are ‘Developed With Artists’ and are the recipient of a yearlong, bespoke package of support.
