“I’m frightened of doing it without you”.
Solo- storyteller Liz revisits her childhood memories and home in the North in an attempt to understand whether she still belongs there, or ever did. In this multi-generational piece, Liz takes the audience on a journey through the rural landscape and environment of her home, reconnecting with voices from the past and her young family now. In doing so, Liz confronts her stark fear of loss and the feeling of being lost without belonging.
'Local' will have audiences laughing and crying simultaneously, it will feel familiar but unsettling. Visuals and sound help encompass Liz’s world in the early 90s.
With previous shows SWIM and Gutted being regional sellouts, Liz reveals her latest production Local on a small premiering tour. This universal-themed show is human to its very core.

Audience Reactions
"Local is a great piece of stagecraft. On the evening we were present the audience were obviously very much with Liz on her journey to understand where she is from. There was much laughter, and maybe even a few genuine tears." - Stagey Lady
"At the end, I look at my daughter through bleary eyes and wait until she’s wiped away her own tears. On the way home, we discuss what it means to belong, to be ‘local’ to Cumbria, and different perspectives between daughter and parent. We’ve come away with very different things, but both have the same emotional responses. We’re grateful for what we’ve just experienced – and just a little bit more ready for the future." - Northern Arts review
"It was like therapy. Never cried at theatre before. Loved it."
