Are you interested in developing multi-sensory and accessible theatre and arts practice with young people and adults with learning disabilities?
DIY Theatre Company is a learning disability theatre company based in Salford. The company's vision is a world where performers, theatre-makers and arts leaders with learning disabilities are valued as part of the rich diversity of our cultural sector and our society.
This is a rare opportunity to find out how DIY works, to collaborate with an experienced team of performers and co-facilitators with lived experience of learning disability, experience their practice first hand and learn how to create multi-sensory, interactive and accessible theatre and participatory arts for young people with a range of learning disabilities.
The workshop will be mainly practical, and we will be learning through doing. Content will include an introduction to DIY's approach to creating multi-sensory theatre and workshops, followed by an opportunity to create your own sensory environments.
Who is it for?
This practical workshop day is for anyone who is interested in how theatre and participatory arts can be made and shared in ways that include everyone.
