Together We Create
Celebrating Salford’s Rich Heritage and Creative Spirit with 11 Inspiring Community Projects.
Together We Create puts local people at the heart of Lowry’s 25th birthday celebrations. 11 Salford community organisations were commissioned to showcase their local communities through creative workshops and came together to exhibit and perform at a special celebration event at Lowry. Together We Create has been funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and delivered in partnership with Salford CVS (Community and Voluntary Services).

Led by the Friday Friends who are a Community Wellbeing group working to promote the positive effects of community connection on mental health and physical wellbeing, the project delivered creative hands-on workshops in photography, collage making and diamond art as well as social trips to visit art galleries, museums and places of cultural interest. The group used photography, video, poetry and creative writing to document their journey together.
The Doosti Artwave at Lowry
The Doost Artwave brought diverse members of the community together from across Salford, at twice-weekly sessions that promoted diverse creative arts, including weaving rugs, painting, candle making and knitting. The group sessions blended cultural elements with modern ideas through creativity, reducing the barriers to art whilst exploring traditional and contemporary art forms.

Where We Live and Work
We are a group of learning-disabled young people and adults who partnered with Steppingstones Creative to examine ideas about where we live and shop. We used mixed media/art forms around Eccles to explore where we live, and where we work at Princes Park Garden Centre. Creative work will be exhibited in Eccles library and Irlam Railway Café.
Landscape With Chimneys
Creative workshops explored the themes in Ewan McColl’s play, Landscape with Chimneys, and his song, Dirty Old Town, and how McColl’s work connects with modern-day concerns, fostering conversations about change, resilience, and how the human experience continues to be shaped by our environment.
