Mixing Colours Exhibition

The Lowry presents Mixing Colours, an exhibition made and curated by members of the Lowry’s Gallery Steering Group. This is made up of Salford residents who have engaged with the gallery team over the last year to forge new connections and to develop collaborative and creative exchanges. Throughout the year, the group have formed friendships and shared experiences through engaging with art whilst learning how to put on an exhibition of their own.

This multifaceted exhibition demonstrates the creativity of the individuals within this collective through a vibrant display of drawings, collage, painting, sculpture and photography. Colour is a prominent theme in the work which reflects the diversity of lived experiences and cultures within the group, and their relationship with Salford. This exhibition is a platform for the group to express their creativity and talent and demonstrate the positivity and inspiration that a strong sense of community can bring.

In this exchange of knowledge, the Galleries team and the Community Group have worked together to share ideas and experiences which help us understand how we can start to make the Galleries more welcoming and accessible to a wider audience. The physical culmination of an exhibition is only one of the many benefits that have arisen from this work together.

The exhibition will be located along the walkway outside the Aldridge Studios.
