WORKSHOP: HARNESSING YOUR POWER, VALUE AND CREATIVE AGENCY AS AN ARTIST

In an industry full of instability, it can often feel challenging to ground yourself as an artist.
Through a series of practical exercises, lively discussions, and personal reflections from their own experiences, multiple award-winning Creative Director, Alistair Charles Wilkinson, will help you build a more refined personal toolkit; that you can use in your future career to help you select work, feel confident in your voice, and develop greater creative entitlement.
This workshop is for artists of all experience levels and all disciplines, and is an open, warm invitation for makers to come together, feel community, chart similarities and reflect on differences.
About Alistair Wilkinson
Alistair is a highly experienced, multiple award-winning Creative Director, working across stage, screen, sport, gaming, and immersive environments. They trained at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, as well as at The Royal Court’s Invitation Writers Group, and completed an MA at RADA/ Birkbeck. In 2023, Alistair was appointed as the first ever Creative Lead at the National Football Museum, and regularly works across the country with clubs at all professional and grassroots levels, as well as fan and community groups, to harness the creative power of the game of our lives.
In the past they held the position of Head of Artist Development at The Old Vic; and in 2022, they led on all talent development at Punchdrunk, working in the UK, internationally and digitally, with a specific focus on launching the critically-acclaimed The Burnt City, as well as settling them into their new Woolwich home. Their work at Punchdrunk helped win the company the Business of the Year Award from the Royal Borough of Greenwich, and Partner of the Year from Greenwich University.
In 2017 Alistair founded WoLab, a working laboratory for artists to create, which during its six years of programming supported over 500 artists to develop themselves. Alistair is an Associate Artist at The National Youth Theatre, a former Connect Artist for RTYDS, and a reader for the Bruntwood Prize, having in the past read scripts for The Bush Theatre, Theatre503, Theatre Uncut, and The Papatango Prize. Alistair also works as a Wellbeing Practitioner and Access Worker, supporting artists across all disciplines to realise their creative ambitions. In addition to this, Alistair is the Creative Director of Life’s a Pitch Projects, and also is an experienced fundraiser; to date, they have raised over £18m in funding for various artistic adventures.
