Research by Dr Tosh Warwick

As part of Lowry Turns 25, Dr Tosh Warwick of Heritage Unlocked explored the rich history and heritage of Salford and its dynamic communities.  This unique research project reflects on the impact of LS Lowry’s paintings and observations on the working-class histories of Salford, and the impact of Lowry the cultural venue on Salford and LS Lowry’s legacy.   

Dr Tosh Warwick is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (FHistS), historian and heritage consultant with Heritage Unlocked, who has worked across a range of projects exploring social history, industrial heritage and deindustrialization across Northern England. Currently a Research Associate in the School of Geography and Planning, Tosh was previously a Research Associate at the History Department at Manchester Metropolitan University and has also worked on projects exploring the heritage of Salford and the Greater Manchester area including the cooperative movement, policing and sport.
