Lowry announces Eva Martinez as new Associate Programmer for Dance
Lowry in Salford today announces that Eva Martinez will join the organisation as Associate Programmer for Dance.
Eva, a performing arts curator, dramaturge and leadership coach, is a sought-after collaborator within an extended international network and is known for her inclusive, facilitative approach, championing artistic expansion, equity and social justice.
She was most recently Artistic Programmer at Sadler’s Wells where she curated a distinctive, change making programme which launched a new generation of dance artists thriving today.
Eva was Dance and Performance programmer at Southbank Centre and worked at Dance4 (now FABRIC). She is a Clore Leadership Fellow, chair of Pagrav Dance Company (Urja Desai Thakore) and a Trustee for FABRIC in the Midlands.
Eva’s appointment follows the recent retirement from Lowry of Eckhard Thiemann — whose vision over more than a decade helped establish The Lowry’s dance programme as world‑leading.
Lowry plays a hugely important role in the national dance sector, presenting regionally some of the most significant national and international productions of the year as well as showcasing the new generation of artists.
“Lowry is a platform for the most significant artists and companies working in dance nationally and internationally and we are extremely grateful to Eckhard for the profound impact he has had on our dance programme over the last 10 years.
“Eva is a hugely talented and respected programmer, producer and dramaturg and exactly the right person to further develop the programme. We are delighted that Eva is joining us and look forward to working with her to bring the best of dance to our stages.” Steve Cowton & Matthew Eames, Co-Heads of Theatre, Lowry
"I am very much looking forward to bringing my expertise as a curator and my love for dance to the Lowry's theatres and audiences. I’m also looking forward to collaborating with artists and Lowry colleagues to create opportunities in what is a difficult climate for the arts, while building on the remarkable work of my predecessor Eckhard Thiemann" Eva Martinez, Associate Programmer for Dance, Lowry
