Aarian Mehrabani

Aarian Mehrabani is a visually impaired actor, writer, comedian, and theatre maker from the Northwest.

He trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama on the BA Acting (Collaborative and Devised Theatre) course. Since graduating, he co-founded the multi-award-winning theatre company FlawBored. Their debut show, IT’S A MOTHERF**KING PLEASURE, which Aarian co-wrote and performs in, has received widespread critical and commercial acclaim. Premiering at Vaults Festival in 2023, the show quickly transferred to Soho Theatre, won the Untapped Award, and completed a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe that same year. It garnered numerous five-star reviews, and Aarian, along with the three other writers, was named one of The Stage’s “Fringe Five” artists who smashed the Fringe.

Since then, the show has enjoyed a three-week run off-Broadway and toured to Washington DC, Boston, and the Southbank Centre.

Aarian is currently working on their second show with the Royal Court, in addition to several TV projects, including the TV adaptation of IT’S A MOTHERF**KING PLEASURE with Hat Trick productions.

Aarian has previously worked with the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, in addition to his work in both devised, traditional and musical theatre with a range of theatre companies. He also designs and delivers workshops in a range of educational and corporate settings, sits on the steering committee for ASYLUM Arts and the audition panel for the BA Acting Program at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

ABOUT AARIAN’S DEVELOPED WITH PROJECT

HOW’S YOUR HEAD?

Aarian will bring his debut hour of stand-up to life with the working title: HOW’S YOUR HEAD?

This will be his first solo show, where he’ll captivate the audience with his distinctive wit and irreverence. Drawing on his experience as a triple threat — blind, brown, and bi — Aarian weaves a powerful narrative culminating in performing a full stand-up hour just one year after being diagnosed with brain cancer.

In the show, he explores a range of themes, including his relationship with his Persian identity, his time in hospital battling an aggressive brain tumour, and a hilariously sharp critique of the children’s book Elmer the Elephant.

Aarian is working towards presenting the show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2026, with opening performances at Lowry and further touring from Autumn 2026 onwards.

“I feel both terrified and unbelievably excited to be making this show and discovering a form of storytelling and audience engagement that feels totally fresh and new for me. And I’m so excited to be developing it with Lowry, who have a wealth of experience to support me navigate this new venture.” - Aarian Mehrabani
