Kate Mosse - Warrior Queens and Quiet Revolutionaries: How Women (Also) Built the World

This event has passed

Fancy a great night out in the theatre?  Why not join Kate Mosse in her first ever one-woman show celebrating amazing women, dazzling history, and even get a sneak early preview of Kate’s latest novel? Audiences can expect a fabulous theatrical event – part detective story, part love letter to history – packed with fun facts and did-you-knows.  For the curious and young at heart, Warrior Queens & Quiet Revolutionaries: How Women (Also) Built the World will surprise, entertain, challenge as Kate brings to the stage the stories of some of the most inspiring, extraordinary, and trail-blazing women throughout history.

With toe-tapping music, video, and a few mystery objects – from a 1920s football to an 19th sheep – Kate will both share the story of how she tracked down her long-forgotten relative, novelist Lily Watson (in whose literary footsteps she is walking) and, at the same time, ask how history is made and who gets to make it. You’ll meet the Mothers of Invention and Pirate Queens, the unsung heroines of medicine and science, to those who reached for the stars or took up arms to fight for what they believed in. Featuring a joyous cast of characters – from the first named author in history to the 19th century woman who discovered global warming – this is an evening for everyone, friends and family, parents, and teenagers.  Together, let’s raise the roof and put women back into the history books where they belong.

Think of the roll call of inventors and politicians, military leaders and scientists, philosophers and composers, thinkers and mystics and ask yourself this question. Where were the women?’
