Following the success of their explosive adaptation of “Hamlet” at Storyhouse, Chester, in 2019, Chalice Productions’ will be propelling this tragic tale of treachery, mistrust, lost love and lust spectacularly into life once more.

Still one of Shakespeare’s most popular works, “Hamlet” it is an absolute powerhouse of a play for performers, directors and audience alike. Yet, nearly 400 years on and there are still so many avenues to explore, so many questions to be
considered:

‘What if Claudius wasn’t the villain we thought?’

‘What if Claudius was trying to protect the woman he loved from the wrath of his hard-handed brother?’

‘What if Laertes was Old Hamlet’s illegitimate son?’

‘What if Young Hamlet wasn’t male?’

January 2020.
Join us as we consider gender, identity, power, deception, envy, lust , love, honour, betrayal, despair and so much more… An adaptation that will challenge preconceptions of this masterful exploration of the ‘human condition’. Come and delve a little deeper into the psyche of the play’s central characters; of Hamlet, her allies and her enemies.
