Buxton International Festival – Cinderella

This event has passed

Buxton International Festival’s production of Pauline Viardot’s miniature operetta, is an elegant retelling of the classic fairy tale Cinderella.

Laura Attridge (Director) and Anna Orton (Designer) have created a simple but inspired production. The operetta is sung in French (with English surtitles) and the dialogue is all in English. The chamber opera featuring seven singers and a pianist, has a score where sumptuous melodies abound, vocal lines soar, and the Cinderella tale is told with a smile. The perfect entertainment for families, the running time of the show lasts 70 minutes and plays without an interval. The production was mounted for the first time at the 2021 Buxton International Festival and played to sell-out audience.

It is a family opera. A great introduction to opera for teenagers and young adults.
