Be More Martyn

#BeMoreMartyn trended on Twitter in the hours after the announcement of Martyn Hett’s death at the Manchester Arena bombing in May 2017 – but what does it mean?

Hope Theatre Company asked eight of Martyn’s closest friends and created a unique piece of verbatim theatre using their words. They give a remarkable insight into an extraordinary young man, who transformed each and every one of them.

Martyn’s friends take us on a journey from the cobbles of Canal Street to his legendary Eurovision parties, celebrating Deirdre Barlow, Mariah Carey and Michelle McManus along the way.

“This is a far more interestingly crafted work than a jog through Martyn’s life. It becomes a meditation on what friendship really means”

The Guardian

“This is a sincerely crafted verbatim piece”

The Reviews Hub

“The cast of eight are all fascinating to watch – the authenticity and weight behind the words is palpable”

Upstaged Manchester

“We leave determined to celebrate our own journeys, influences and impact upon others”
