- Show me:
One of Beirut’s youngest and most exciting artists, Yara Boustany will conjure up wondrous images and optical illusions with the simplest of means. Shadows, kaleidoscopic fragments and mirrors will transport audiences from the mountains of Lebanon, filled with birdsong and the buzz of insects, to the busy street-life of Beirut with its startling roofscapes and noisy traffic. A strange creature invades the city, is it an ancient monster or an image of the city drowning in plastic pollution? The city is haunted by animal spirits. Like an open-ended riddle, ‘ēvolvō’ can be read in many ways – filled with wonder and visual surprises.
Don’t miss her specially-adapted family show for younger audiences in the daytime, whilst her evening performance will be performed alongside the shorter work ‘One Day and One Night Beirut’.
Yara Boustany works at the crossroads of visual arts and performance. In 2015, she founded Amalgam, a theatre, dance, and circus training space in the heart of Beirut.
