Birdy is 19. Too old to fight boys in the playground. Too old to skip maths. Too old , apparently, to be lost. But when she stumbles across a long-buried family secret, everything changes... 
 
Hidden in the shadows of 1930s Cairo lies a truth her grandfather would rather forget. For Birdy, uncovering it could be her only chance to rewrite the past and finally prove she isn’t as useless as she’s always believed. 
 
Sharp, darkly funny, and deeply moving, Lost Girl collides the aching nostalgia of early-2000s girlhood with haunting biblical gothic horror. Inspired by a real family secret kept by Lever’s 98-year-old Middle Eastern grandmother, this unforgettable story explores Jewish-Arab heritage, belonging and the courage it takes to reclaim what was lost.
