WTF Wednesday: Lauren Hendry - Tetra-Decathlon
Having never even been for a jog around the park, Lauren signed up to compete in the Tetra-Decathlon World Championships; committing to learn 14 different athletic events and then compete on the World stage, all in just 600 days.
Tetra-Decathlon is a funny and inspiring show exploring the hurdles on the way to the starting line. Mixing humorous storytelling with athletic physicality, Lauren runs, jumps and throws herself into a world of serious amateurs and comedic coaches, where winning is not simply about crossing the line first.
Tetra-Decathlon is a joyous exploration of coming last, and then coming back for more.
Following the show, audience members are invited to ask questions about the show and Lauren’s experiences of training and competing in the Tetra-Decathlon.
WTF Wednesdays are series of evenings presenting work that is challenging, quirky, off-the-wall, on-the-nose and really pushing the boundaries of performance.
We want you to take a risk, to step outside your comfort zone and experience something totally new.
And to make things easier for you, all of our WTF Wednesday events are ‘Pay What You Decide’ (with a suggested donation of £5) – meaning that you don’t pay until after the show, and even then you only pay what you think the performance was worth!
Who ever said asking ‘WT actual F’ was a bad thing?

Find out more about our Pay What You Decide Season
The Lowry is at the forefront of presenting some of UK’s most pioneering, genre-bending new performance and we would like to share it with you. Pay What You Decide not only allows you to pay what you can afford, rather than a fixed ticket price, but removes the financial risk of buying a ticket for a show without knowing if you will enjoy it or not. All money collected will help us pay the artists who have performed and allow them to continue creating new and exciting work.
We currently have two PWYD shows available to whet your appetite – WTF Wednesday which is a series of evenings for the compulsively curious featuring frontrunners from the frontiers of contemporary theatre making, and our Digital programme.
