Black Sabbath - The Ballet

Wed 08 Oct 2025 - Sat 11 Oct 2025

Carlos Acosta turns up the volume on Birmingham’s musical legacy as he brings Black Sabbath - The Ballet to Lowry for the first time.

Black Sabbath – The Ballet delivers a spectacular theatrical experience featuring thrilling dance alongside orchestrations of legendary Black Sabbath tracks such as Paranoid and Iron Man, and new orchestral works inspired by their music.

Three composers and three choreographers, led by renowned Choreographer Pontus Lidberg (Swedish Royal Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet) and Composer Chris Austin (orchestrator of White Stripes for Wayne McGregor’s Chroma) worked alongside award-winning writer Richard Thomas (Jerry Springer, The Opera) to create this extraordinary metal symphony over three acts.

Sparks fly in this intriguing response to Black Sabbath’s music and legacy – the first true heavy metal ballet experience.
