Quentin Blake takes over Lowry this summer!
Lowry’s free family-friendly exhibition, Quentin Blake and Me can be found in our Galleries on Floor 2.
Entry is free but ticketed. One ticket gives you entrance to Quentin Blake and Me. LOWRY 360 and Modern Life: The LS Lowry Collection.
In this vibrant and lively family exhibition, Lowry will be celebrating the work of one of the most popular and successful writers and illustrators of children’s books, Quentin Blake.
Known for his distinctive and humorous style, Blake has written or illustrated over 500 books, including working with famous authors like Roald Dahl, David Walliams, and Michael Morpurgo. His illustrations have vividly brought to life some of the most beloved characters in children’s fiction, from The BFG to Mr. Stink, captivating the imaginations of readers young and old.
This exhibition features a vast collection of Blake’s work, fun interactives, games to play, and plenty of opportunities for young visitors and their families to write and draw their own stories. It's a fantastic chance to immerse yourself in the magical world of Quentin Blake and enjoy a fun-filled outing for the whole family!
When you arrive at the Galleries Welcome Desk, our friendly staff will be there to guide you and answer any questions you might have.
And after your gallery visit don't forget to visit Lowry Bar and Kitchen for refreshments or if you have little ones with you there will be lots of FREE activities around the building so why not make a day of it!

Storytelling Adventure

Step into Quentin Blake’s magical world with Angelica Sprocket and her endless pockets! Packed with surprises, laughter, and imagination, this fun-filled session is perfect for kids of all ages. Visit us in our storytelling space by the Coffee shop for these free 20-minute sessions.

Creative Fun in the Lookout
This summer, the Lookout is bursting with Quentin Blake-inspired fun! Sketch quirky drawings, explore his books, and design a new boot for Mr. Magnolia. Creativity and adventure await! This free space is open whenever the Galleries are open.

Step into a world of imagination in our Quentin Blake-inspired Book Nook — a cosy, self-led space for curious minds of all ages!
Discover a fresh selection of his beloved titles, alongside exciting new books in a variety of languages from around the world.

Live Illustrations at the Quentin Blake Exhibition
Tues – Sun - 12-3.30pm
Be the star of your own artwork! Watch talented local artists create live portraits of visitors during the exhibition — and take home a unique masterpiece to remember your day. An artist will be located at various parts of the building each day or catch them in the Lowry Bar & Kitchen between 12-1.30pm.
Little Lowry Kitchen
Visit Lowry Bar & Kitchen to discover your own role play kitchen. The Little Lowry Kitchen is a space for under 7’s to use their imagination and play in their world of make believe. In Lowry Bar & Kitchen you can also purchase real life refreshments! Open during building opening times.
Meal Deals - Kids eat for £1
When you buy any adult main, grab a children’s main for just £1. While you tuck into something tasty, they can stir up some fun in the Little Lowry Kitchen. Because big days out deserve little rewards.

Enormous Crocodile Statue
Snap a selfie with our giant, grinning Enormous Crocodile statue just outside the entrance! It's the perfect photo-op for brave adventurers and Quentin Blake fans alike — but watch out… he’s always hungry for a giggle!
Cockatoo Trail
Pick up a Cockatoo trail from the Welcome Desk and join the adventure to help us find the 6 cheeky cockatoos hiding around the building! Inspired by Quentin Blake’s delightful illustrations, these feathered friends are playing a game of hide-and-seek just for you. Explore every nook and cranny to spot all 6 cockatoos. Once you have found them all fly over to the Lowry Shop to collect your special sticker as a reward for your brilliant detective.
