Homegrown
An Online Symposium on Home-Based Creative Practice
Date: Thu 5 Feb 2026
Time: 11AM – 4PM
Location: Online
Homegrown brings together artists, producers and organisations to explore the possibilities and challenges of home-based and situated creative practice.
Across the day, we’ll hear from artists and organisations working remotely, collaboratively and experimentally - sharing approaches that challenge conventional ideas of where and how live work can be made and presented.
Grounded in the Social Model of Disability, the programme invites reflection on access, care and sustainability, and asks what it means to build artistic practices that respond to real lives and lived experience. Through conversation, short provocations, and shared learning, the day offers space to listen, reflect and imagine alternative ways of working.
This symposium is curated by Lowry in partnership with artist Corinne, DASH (Disability Arts Shropshire) and Art Riot.
Event Overview
The morning takes inspiration from artist Corinne’s project The Severed Wing - charting a journey from self-portraiture to live-streamed performance - and uses this as a springboard for wider conversations about making work from domestic or situated environments.
In the afternoon, we broaden the focus to examine how organisations are supporting home-based artists through remote residencies and other opportunities.
We encourage you to take the day at your own pace, to step away when needed, and to engage in ways that feel right for you.
