Come along to our watercolour weekend where you will explore a variety of watercolour techniques led by professional artist Charles Hickson.
The weekend follows a theme with references to other painters and to the artist’s own work in order to stimulate activity. Sessions begin with a demonstration by the artist covering composition, starting the painting, brush techniques and colour mixing.

Subjects include: buildings and structures; with guidance on viewpoint and perspective. trees and plants; to include colour mixing. skies and all the basic elements of a landscape composition. A variety of media will be covered, from pencil. charcoal, ink and wash through to watercolour, acrylic and mixed media.
Charles Hickson studied Fine Art at Manchester Polytechnic, gaining a BA Hons degree in Fine Art in 1979. Since leaving college he also achieved a Post- Graduate Certificate in Education and has continued to teach and work as a practising artist. His current employer is Cheadle and Marple 6th Form College where he is a tutor in Adult Education. He has had many solo exhibitions and also has paintings in public collections such as Towneley Hall, Burnley. He teaches and works mainly in watercolours but also has a strong interest in acrylic paint on canvas.
