Pick & Mix
A bespoke workshop for your class
If you’re looking for a workshop linked to our performances or another area of the curriculum all you need to do is tell us:
- The art form you would like to use – this could be Dance, Drama or Visual Art
- The topic area
- and the curriculum area you’d like to explore.
A member of our team of highly experienced artists will then design and deliver a bespoke workshop for you, either at The Lowry or in your school.
Half day: £150 | Full day: £250 | Artist in school: £300 per day
For up to 35 pupils | 10am–12pm or 1pm–3pm

We offer a year-round programme of performing and visual arts workshops based on the LS Lowry collection.
Half day: £120 (£96 Salford schools) | Full day:£240 (£192 Salford schools) | Artist in school: £300 per day

In School Workshops
Early stages, key stages 1&2
We will send a professional artist to your school (distance dependent and negotiable) to help you explore the work of LS Lowry or a topic of your choice. These are full day workshops from 10am-3pm (timings can be flexible).

Visual Art Workshops | Ls Lowry
Key Stages 1 & 2
We Have Three Strands To Our Visual Arts Workshops:
- LS Lowry Industrial Scenes
- LS Lowry Landscapes
- LS Lowry portraits
Investigate, explore and learn with out artists about LS Lowry’s style of painting whilst creating your own artwork from one of the above themes.
Half day: £120 (£96 Salford schools) | Full day: £240 (£192 Salford schools) | Artist in school: £300 per day.

3D Modelling
Key Stages 1 & 2
Be inspired by the LS Lowry collection or choose to explore a subject area of your choice and spend a day developing modelling techniques to produce a finished piece of artwork.
For up to 35 pupils | Full day workshop: 10am-3pm | Cost: £360
Pick and Mix Dance
If you are looking for an introduction to dance or a workshop to explore a subject area our team of highly skilled artists will create a bespoke workshop for your class. Choose any style of dance or any topic area and we will create something tailor made for your group.
Cost Half day: £150 | Full day: £300 | For up to 35 pupils 10am–12pm or 1pm–3pm | Full day workshops 10am–3pm.
Drama Workshops
Key Stages 1 & 2
Use the paintings of Lowry as inspiration to investigate a variety of drama techniques. Work with our artists through a variety of warm up games before spending time in the galleries looking at some of Lowry’s key paintings. Engage with the images by exploring narrative and character and then work in our studio space to develop living pictures by bringing the people from the paintings to life.

The Copley Prize
Inspire your children with LS Lowry
An opportunity for 4-11 year olds to see their work mounted next to that of LS Lowry!
Children aged 4-11 can now enter a prestigious art competition that could see their work exhibited next to LS Lowry’s most celebrated works of art.
Each term’s winner is judged by the Claire Stewart, Curator of The Lowry Collection, with the overall winner for the year chosen by Alison Copley. The annual winner of this prestigious prize receives:
- their art work framed professionally and hung in The Lowry Galleries alongside the work of LS Lowry for a full year
- a tour of The Lowry Galleries for their family
- a choice between a family ticket for a theatre show at The Lowry or a free art workshop for their school.
The Copley Prize at The Lowry is kindly supported by Alison and Noel Copley.
The Lowry Centre Trust is a not-for-profit charitable organization and registered charity (no.1053962). All income supports our world-class Theatres and Galleries programme, the care and display of the LS Lowry Collection and our life-changing Learning and Engagement work.
Maegan Hallwood, 9 years old
Nine-year old Maegan Hallwood’s pencil drawing, which she has named The Double Person, beat-off stiff competition from hundreds of 4-11-year-olds across the country to be named 2019 winner of The Copley Prize.
Claire Stewart, curator of the Lowry Collection and judge of The Copley Prize, said: “Lowry produced a great number of portraits during his lifetime. And just like Maegan, he chose his parents as the focus of some of his work too. It’s great to see, 43 years after his death, Lowry’s portraits are inspiring another generation of artists to capture their own parents in art for our visitors to enjoy.”
How to enter:
Select paintings or drawings inspired by your child’s experience of LS Lowry’s work (maximum size A3 and limited to one entry per child).
Fill in the form below and ensure that the first name, age, school and title of work is stated clearly on the back of their work.

A runner up will be selected each term (3 times a year) and the relevant applicant or school notified. The annual winner will be notified and invited to The Lowry to celebrate and receive their prize.
Terms and conditions:
- All 4-11 year olds (Key Stage 1 & 2) are eligible to enter.
- Teachers are welcome to submit an entry from more than one child in their class or may choose to submit a piece of work that the whole class has worked on together. Please note however, that we will choose an individual piece of art as the winner and not a group of works.
- Each drawing or painting should be inspired by the work of LS Lowry.
- The maximum size for entries is A3 (29cm x 42cm). Unfortunately we cannot accept digital copies of work.
- You will only be notified if you are selected as a seasonal (3 times a year) or annual winner.
- The Lowry will be unable to return or keep entries. However, parents or teachers are welcome to arrange collection of work personally providing this is within one month of the termly winner being announced and is clearly requested when submitted.
- By entering in to the competition you agree for the entry to be displayed and used in any associated publicity by The Lowry.
- The winner(s) agrees to attend The Lowry (by arrangement) in order to receive their prize and take part in any associated publicity.’
