The Roundabout tent

What is Roundabout?

Created by theatre company Paines Plough, Roundabout is the UK’s first ever fully accessible, demountable and portable plug-and-play theatre.

Each Autumn Roundabout tours the country following its appearance at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the space becoming an inspiring creative hub that – whilst temporary – aims to be truly embedded in and owned by the communities it visits.

Since 2015, The Lowry has partnered with Paines Plough on Roundabout to bring the thrill of live performance into the heart and fabric of Salford communities, showcasing brilliant new theatre in Salford Quays (2015), Eccles (2016), Little Hulton (2017), Ordsall Park (2018) and Broughton (2019) and Swinton (2021). This year we are coming to Prince’s Park Irlam from Thu 6-Sun 9 October.

Paines Plough formed in 1974 over a pint of Paines in the Plough pub, Paines Plough is the UK’s national theatre of new plays and has commissioned, produced and toured more than 130 new productions by world renowned playwrights like Stephen Jeffreys, Abi Morgan, Sarah Kane, Mark Ravenhill, Dennis Kelly and Mike Bartlett. www.painesplough.com
