Artist who combines spray paint and dance next in line for The Lowry’s Edit series

The Lowry is pleased to announce that Joe Moran is the next artist to under-go their Edit series.

Edit.04: Live Creations by Joe Moran and Dance Art Foundation is the fourth in The Lowry’s Edit series of gallery projects and collaborations.

Joe Moran is a British-Irish artist and choreographer whose practice incorporates theatre and gallery performance, curatorial projects, lecture-performance, drawing and spray paint works. Joe is Artistic Director of Dance Art Foundation and is currently in residence at Wysing Arts Centre and is a Dance4 Associate Artist.

For Edit.04: Live Creations, Joe Moran will present a performance-based exhibition/open studio in The Lowry Galleries, combining live performance, film and drawing in spray paint. Working with a small team of dancers he will be creating a new gallery performance work, ‘Before We Are Dead,’ which will be seen alongside his film installation, created in collaboration with Sam Williams, called ‘Here and Now.’ In addition he will create wall pieces, drawn in spray paint, that are conceived as expanded choreography.

Recent and forthcoming commissions and performances include Sadler’s Wells (2019), London Contemporary Dance School (2019), Wysing Arts Centre (2018), Bluecoat (2018) coinciding with the Liverpool Biennial, Kettle’s Yard (2018), Sadler’s Wells (2017), Whitechapel Gallery (2017), Delfina Foundation (2016), Block Universe/ fig-2 at the ICA (2015) and DRAF (Frieze 2014).
